Welcome to the team...

After a crazy weekend and a long week of waiting (and $210 later), I finally got my new passport! Disney required that I get a new one because my old one was going to expire while I was there! So now I have a fancy 10 year one. I won't have to step foot in that passport office until I'm 31. Yesss.

Anyway, I finally uploaded it to DOC and received access to the Onboarding website!

The Onboarding website is for accepted applicants, and has pretty much all the information you need to know about the program until you get there! Everything from housing, to work life,  as well as all the pre-arrival things you have to do! Not going to lie, I may have cried. :)

Over the moon...

So even though I'm under the weather today, on the inside I am still leaping for joy from all the excitement!

Just need to get a new passport and I can finally start the immigration process. 4 months and 22 days!

I don't even know what to write. Except for God's timing is perfect.

Thursday, January 15th I received an email letting my co-workers and I know that Target Canada would be discontinuing operations. Our last day of severance would be May 16th, What a way to start off the year. It has been such a chaotic few days. Put our whole store in shock. The sandcastle we built was being kicked down. Two years of hard work, and passion, soon to be nothing but a memory. But God never shuts one door without opening another.

This morning I prayed, "God, what ever your plans are for my life, just make it so." At 4:10 PM, He answered my prayer.

Sue Sharpe, the Disney Recruiter sent me an email offering me a position in the Cultural Representative Program in Merchandise starting June 16th, 2015! I did it! I got accepted! Guys, I'm moving to Orlando, Florida! A few minutes later I received the official email from Disney International Programs.

I was just finishing work as I read the email, I could not stop shaking. All I could do was laugh as I skipped around the office repeating "I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!". I started immediately thinking of ways to tell my family. I finally decided on writing them a letter from "Mickey Mouse" requesting my presence in his kingdom. LOL. Right before dinner I slipped it under my mother's plate. After we sat down she read it, nearly burst into tears, and then I had her read it to the family. I'm pretty sure she's more excited than I am. Hahaha.

So here we go. 146 days until I move to Walt Disney World. Unreal. You'll be seeing a lot more blog posts, and I'm going to be starting a vlog as well! Thank you everyone for all your prayers and crossed fingers, I am so blessed to have such wonderful and encouraging people in my life. :)

We like you! But don't need you right now...

As of 10:36 EST this morning, I have been put on the wait-list for the Disney Cultural Representative Program. 

Yay? At first I wanted to bawl my eyes out. I have been waiting 8 weeks, only to be told they don't have a spot for me right now. But after talking to a few people on the Canada Disney CRP Facebook group, being wait-listed isn't a death sentence, its actually a good thing! 

Apparently being wait-listed means they are planning on hiring you, but they're just waiting to plan a time-period where the positions will open up again. Most people who get wait-listed, do end up getting hired! The average wait period is about 5 months, but hey, I'm a pro at waiting now. 

In a way, this could be a blessing in disguise. It means I get to go on a missions trip to Portugal in July, it means I have time to save money, and it also means I get to see Keith Urban at Rock the Park in August! God's timing is perfect, I just have to continue putting my trust in Him. 

"For I know the plans I have for you" declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

So please keep your fingers crossed, and keep praying for me!

Still waiting...

Well, it has officially been one month since my interview with Disney. But as they say, "Good things come to those who wait", I certainly hope that's the case!

On Monday, November 24th, about 6 or 7 applicants from the Facebook group that were also interviewed on the 12th, finally received their job offer email! I had been checking my email every 5 minutes since the interview anyway, so I was pretty bummed that I didn't receive one. After further research, I found out that they were all offered positions for Food and Beverage, which wasn't a work centre I was too interested in (I've been in the food industry since I was 16, finally got out!). So with that in mind, I've been keeping my head up, looking forward to each weekday, hoping to receive that fateful email that will potentially change my life.

From what I understand, the positions for Merchandise, Attractions and Kidcot are limited, as they don't need as many Cast Members working at one time. Therefore they only have a few start dates over the course of the year. So I'm desperately hoping that they are simply taking the time to figure out which start date group to put me in.

Either way, the absolute latest date I will hear from them will be December 21st (But I'm assuming December 19th, since the 21st is on a Sunday).

The waiting is almost over! Until then, here's an accurate image of me everyday for the next week.

Interview Completed! And now we wait...

As if my phone didn't charge overnight. I meant to get up at 4:45am to get ready for the day. But because my iPhone cord sucks, my alarm never went off cause my phone was dead! Awful. At 5:10am my dad came down and yanked me out of bed. Thankfully I'm a pro at getting ready in less thank half an hour! He dropped me off at the train station at 6:15ish, gave him a big hug and onto the train I went!

The train arrived at 8:35am at Union Station, which is thankfully just a 10 minute walk to Simcoe Place. I hadn't eaten anything or had coffee yet, so I stopped at Starbucks for my classic Double Tall Peppermint Mocha Nonfat no whip! It was a little tricky to find the main lobby of Simcoe Place, but I think that's because I went in a weird entrance. Finally I found it and they sent me up to the 29th floor with another guy. 

We walked into the office and had to sign in and get our temporary nametags. They were playing Lady and the Tramp in the waiting area! We were escorted down a long hallway into the presentation room, they had about 40 chairs set up. I went right for the front row by the podium, I wanted to make sure I was noticed. ;)

While we were waiting they had a video playing, much like the ones they have online. Just talking about the disney parks and international programs, etc. Finally at 9:30, our recruiter began the presentation! She introduced herself, and did a few trivia questions (what does Epcot stand for, and what countries are represented in Epcot), and gave out pens to the people who got them right. She spoke on everything from wages to housing, roles to laundry. It was super informative, made me want to be a part of the program even more! I couldn't stop smiling! Kiki, the manager from Le Ceilier was there as well, so she spoke on the Food & Beverage roles and expectations, she was also going to be conducting interviews. The presentation was about an hour long, so at 10:40 anyone who wasn't scheduled for the 11:00-12:00 time slot was asked to leave and come back 15 minutes before their scheduled time slot. Thankfully I was in the 11:00-12:00, so I went third! The recruiter took my into this room, and wall to wall, there were shelves filled with vintage Disney merchandise, so cool. The interview went by really fast, I was proud of everything I said, so I believe it went really well! I'll make another posts later on of the interview questions. They told us we will hear back from them mid-December, but from all the other blogs I've been reading, people typically find out the day after! So I hope that's the case for me, because I hate waiting. :p 

After the interview, I walked over to The Eaton Centre to do some shopping. My first stop was of course The Disney Store. I got Mickey and a Minnie plush toys, so cute. I still hadn't eaten anything at this point, so I got a burger at A&W. OH, AND BY THE WAY, The Eaton Centre is CRAAAAZY BUSY, doesn't matter what time you go, it's always packed. After lunch I went to the Apple store to get a new phone cord, since my old one is a piece of garbage. Oh Apple. I got bored of the mall, so I decided to go over to The Ripley's Aquarium! 

It was about a 40 minute walk from the mall. So windy. Such cold. Finally made it there and checked in my bag and coat so I wouldn't have to carry them around! At this point it was 1:30pm, so I still had lots of time to kill, since my train didn't leave until 5:30pm. So I walked around the aquarium for a couple hours and took some pictures with my iPad! It was funny, I had a few people ask me if I worked there, probably because of my business attire. Ahahaha.

Not sure if it was worth the $33 admission price, but at least it was something educational to do! At about 3:45pm I headed back towards the Union Station, it was to early too wait for the train, so I hung out at a Tim Horton's for an hour. At 5:15pm I boarded the train and headed on my merry way back to London!

So that was my day! Very long, lots of walking, but so worth it. Even if I don't get the job, this has been an amazing experience. But fingers crossed that I'll hear back soon! :) Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers! 

Three More Sleeps...

I know it may be jumping the gun...but I've decided to begin my Walt Disney World Cultural Representative Program blog!

I guess I'll tell you how this all started.

A couple years ago, I was working at Things Engraved for the holiday season. I had dropped out of college for the second time, and was trying to figure out what to do next. My co-worker Megan (HI MEGAN) told me about how she worked as Disney for a year, and that it was basically the best ever. Unfortunately at that time, the applications for the program were closed. This summer is when I got thinking about the program again, so on June 4th, I sat down and filled out the online application.

I didn't hear anything from Disney until august, and all they asked were for a scanned image of my passport, and some background check information. Again, I didn't hear from them for awhile until the morning of October 21st, I woke up to this email! 

I HAD FINALLY BEEN INVITED FOR AN INTERVIEW. Wednesday, Novemebe 12th, 9:30am @ Simcoe Place in Toronto. I figured taking the VIA Rail will be easier than driving, since the station is basically right across from the building. So that will be fun. Trains are cool.

And there we have it! Three days away from potentially receiving the opportunity to move to Orlando, Florida, represent Canada, and live and breathe Disney for an entire year. Feeling mighty blessed thus far, may God's blessings continue to flow. :)
